Depresso: (adj.) The feeling you get when you run out of coffee
Happy Fri-yay Everyone!
As I promised, I am going to give you the inside scoop on how to make my 50 Caliber Coffee! After a long week, I know I am not the only one who feels like they need a little extra kick in their coffee, besides the usual...well, nothing. I drink my coffee black! Whether its iced, hot or what have you; its always black. This is partly because I feel as though its healthier, but I also just really enjoy the taste of coffee! However, I also LOVE putting new spins on my daily routine! This prevents food burnout and it also keeps your body guessing!
So, I am going to go through how to prepare the 50 CC, and then I am going to give you guys a quick snippet on the ingredients and why I chose to add them to my coffee/life! With everything you put into your body there should always be a reason. Well, almost always! (ex: my oreo addiction....) ANYWAY! Here it is! :)
The Inside Scoop on Briana's 50 Caliber Coffee

Ingredients:
Orgain Vanilla Protein
1 Pkt Hazelnut MCT oil
1 Cup Puroast Coffee
That's it!
First step is to choose your favorite coffee to brew! I chose Puroast organic low acid House Blend but you may feel free to pick whichever coffee you chose! As for the brewing system, I am blessed with a Ninja Coffee Bar which has truly revolutionized my coffee drinking experience! More on that later...
Next, while you're waiting for your coffee to brew, add 2 scoops of your favorite protein to your blender. I have a Nutribullet RX! Again, more on that later...
Then add your MCT oil creamer. I use It's a Know Brainer Hazelnut Coffee Creamer, but you can simply add a tablespoon, or two, of coconut oil!
Once your coffee is brewed, pour it over your protein/MCT oil concoction and blend! My only downfall on this recipe is I dislike pouring hot liquid into plastic... so, I am working on a way to avoid this! If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them!
As for the decorations...
I always try to incorporate Bee Pollen into my daily routine, which can be a struggle. But today, adding a sprinkle on top of my coffee was almost too easy! Beautiful and nutritious!
Those little nuggets are Lara Bar bites and I literally can not get enough of them!
As I said earlier, I do believe that everything we put into our bodies should have a purpose. In our society, people often just go for what is fast, easy or accessible. And, in most cases those foods are the very worst for you. However, thanks to websites like Thrive, stores like Whole Foods and the ever growing Organic or "Natures Promise" section at Stop&Shop, healthy, nutritious and "convenient" foods are more accessible!
Orgain Vanilla Protein Powder- I actually found Orgain protein powder this past winter while I was on vacation in the Florida Keys. I went into this adorable smoothie/healthy food breakfast boutique and ordered a strawberry banana smoothie (my fave!) with vanilla protein and chia. The usual concoction. After devouring my smoothie I was so impressed with its preparation and taste I had to know what kind of protein she used! The girl working at the boutique was overjoyed at my question and even ran into the back to show me what the tub of Orgain protein looked like. She loved the protein too, and highly recommended it to me! As soon as I got home I ordered my own 2 lb tub and never looked back! I have a somewhat sensitive stomach when it comes to protein powders. I get cramps, bloating, and belly discomfort from most whey or even egg based protein powders. I was beyond thrilled when I found Orgain because their plant based formula doesn't upset my stomach at all! It is just sweet enough that it gives your smoothies a nice flavor that compliments the fruit you put in it! It is not too gritty, in my opinion, but I also don't mind a little grit!
It's a Know Brainer MCT oil Hazelnut Coffee Creamer- I am pretty sure I could talk about this stuff for days and days, but I will try to keep it to a short rant. I found this amazing MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil on the Thrive website by chance! As I said earlier, 99.99% of the time I drink my coffee black, however I can appreciate change once in a while! So, I bought a 9-pack and thought, what the heck!? When they came in I was anxious to try one out! And, much to my surprise, it was awesome! It had a rich, nutty hazelnut flavor that was not to strong or overpowering. It was also not too oily!
Here is the scoop on MCT oil/coconut oil. I get lots and lots of questions about fats from my clients, friends, family and just about everyone! "fat" is the F-word of people on a diet, am I right? When you say the word "fat" around someone who is trying to lose weight they cringe and want to run away. That is societies fault. When people think of weight loss they think of "low fat" "low carb" "high protein". This is not necessarily wrong, but it also couldn't be further from the truth! It is all about putting the right fats, the right carbohydrates, and the right proteins into your body!
Medium chain triglycerides found in oils, such as coconut oil, for example! Think of MCT oil as the super fuel for your cells! Unlike other oils, MCT oil is burned and metabolized quickly by the body! It gets absorbed in the gut and is processed by the liver to be used as fuel, therefore the body does not store it as fat in the tissues! Many times, MCT oil is actually the nudge people need to rev up their metabolism to lose the last 10-15 pounds of stubborn weight. Besides weight loss, MCT oil also promotes mental clarity and boost energy levels. Whether you are trying to lose weight, gain weight, maintain weight, sleep better at night, get more out of your workouts, or just be healthier, MCT oil is for you. It's for everyone!
Last but not least, Puroast Coffee- I believe that the coffee you choose should be as high quality as the person drinking it! You'd be surprised how much garbage they hide in ground coffee these days. Fillers, preservatives, sprays and dyes. Puroast coffee is 100% organic, low acid and packed full of antioxidants! According to Puroast, their coffee is roasted unlike any other coffee! The roasting process allows for a high antioxidant, low acid product with a smooth taste!
That's a wrap! I hope you consider trying out these delicious coffee add-ins!
(I am absolutely not getting paid to promote any of these products! Just want to share some great finds with some great people!)
Happy Friday! Have a safe & healthy weekend ya'll! :)
